Camilla Cabello has been dating longtime friend and Senorita co-singer Shawn Mendes all summer long.
But the pop siren has not shared many details of the romance with her fans. And in the Women In Music October issue of Elle magazine the Havana crooner explained why. ‘I don’t know; people can say whatever they want,’ she offered. ‘They can speculate, but at the same time, we are going to live our own lives, enjoy it, and fall for each other like nobody is watching.’
But then the 22-year-old siren went on to say she ‘loves’ Shawn.

But then soon after she did talk about her romance with Shawn, even saying she loves him.
‘I mean, I love him. We have always connected; we have the best time together,’ admitted Cabello.Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes kiss at his 21st birthday party in NYCLoaded: 0%Progress: 0%0:00PreviousPlaySkipMuteCurrent Time0:00/Duration Time0:19FullscreenNeed Text
So close: They got steamy at the MTV VMAs last week where they sung Senorita
They go way back: The pair have known each other for years and started dating this summer
They were first seen getting romantic on the 4th of July.
But they started off as good pals.
‘Shawn and Camila started off as just friends, which they have been for years, but the more time they spent together, the more they started having feelings for each other,’ a source told US in August.
‘It quickly turned into a fun, lighthearted summer fling-type situation, but now it’s developing into something more serious.’

Camila then talked to Elle about making Senorita.
‘Shawn texted me the idea for the chorus for [our song] Señorita. He was like, “Hey, what if we work on this and do it together?” I was on the Taylor Swift tour and hadn’t been in the studio for a while. I didn’t want to do it, and then a few months later, I couldn’t get the song out of my head.’
She then said yes but he had cooled off the idea.
‘He was like, I don’t want to do it anymore,’ she said.
‘It went back and forth for, like, eight months. Then we finally went into the studio and reworked it so we both felt good about it, without any pressure. I love working with him so much.’
Careful: She doesn’t often talk Shawn and the Havana crooner explained why. ‘I don’t know; people can say whatever they want,’ she offered. ‘They can speculate, but at the same time, we are going to live our own lives, enjoy it, and fall for each other like nobody is watching’
We were thrilled to see Camila Cabello staring in Elle magazine’s Women In Music issue!
The singer is decked out in an array of impressive ensembles from Etro, Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton, but it was this chic look by Giorgio Armani that made a lasting impression.
Camila’s top hails from the brand’s resort 2020 collection. It’s crafted from sumptuous velvet with satin trims and a feather-effect pin, making it ideal for evening wear.
Keen to emulate the look, we have searched high and low for velvet tops that will have similar impact. Browse a few of our favourites from Abercrombie & Fitch, Superdry and Pieces in the carousel below.
Cabello split from dating coach Matthew Hussey earlier this year.
Also in the issue to talked about speaking her mind: ‘I think I just know myself more. I’m more gentle with myself. I think I naturally have less anxiety now, because I realized that so many of the things that brought it on weren’t so scary after all. No matter who the person is or how much I want to impress them, I’m not going to let that rule how I act, how open I am, or what my opinion is. I’m just going to be myself. I listen to my gut. That’s all I can do.’
Two more: Also in the Elle issue are Lizzo and Billie Eilish. Each of the artists took Elle’s Song Association challenge, where they are given a word and then must sing a song with the word as a lyric. The Women In Music October issue of Elle goes on sale September 24. dailymai
